You'll notice when adding a blog, that we only have one theme available, We've done what we can to allow you to make it yours. Under the "appearance tab" in your blog dashboard, we have a theme options menu. This is where you can add your social networking profiles and even your favorite youtube vid (you can change this as often as you like mind you). We'll try to add more as we see a need. If you have a request, let us know, if it isn't too much it will be added, if it takes more than a little time, we may ask for a donation in order to fulfill your request. This is your home though, so we will try to oblige.

School Spying on Students Through Their Webcam?

So it appears that a school in Pennsylvania claims it has the right to take pictures through the webcam of their students! CNET got the scoop from Computerworld that the Lower Merion School District in Ardale, PA remotely controls the webcams on the laptops they provide to their students to spy on them in their homes. Are you serious??

Let’s think about this for a second. Without the student knowing, which very well could be a minor, the school district can remotely control the webcam at anytime and snap photos as they please. What if the student was changing clothes or coming out of the shower? This is a huge invasion of privacy!

The Robbins family is filing a class-action law suit against the school district for obvious reasons. “The suit accuses the school district of violating the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), and other federal and state statues, including the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Act.” (source)

I’m not a genius, but this is just wrong. 1,800 students were giving a laptop with a webcam that the school can access..talk about a network of invasion of privacy!

During the BlackBerry Developer Day keynote, the eBay for BlackBerry smartphones application was mentioned repeatedly as an example of an app deeply integrating with the BlackBerry platform, so I made a mental note to check it out. Ryan from eBay was nice enough to give me a walk through of the app at the Mobile World Congress BlackBerry stand and display some of the ‘deep integration’ talked about on Tuesday. I also learned that the eBay application gives users access to bid on over 200 million different items! Wow, that’s a lot.

The eBay for BlackBerry smartphones application is available in North America right now to download via the BlackBerry App World™ Test Center.

MWC 2010: Need For Speed Shift Hands On Demo (Video)

I love gaming about as much as I love my BlackBerry® smartphone, so when I have the opportunity to check out new BlackBerry games, I take it. The fine folks at EA Mobile were demoing the recently released Need For Speed Shift on a BlackBerry® Storm2™ smartphone at their kiosk within the Mobile World Congress 2010 BlackBerry stand and were kind enough to take me for a spin.
